Ambac Indemnity

LEAD: Citicorp announced yesterday that it was considering selling the Ambac Indemnity Corporation, a subsidiary of Citibank that insures interest and principal payments on municipal bonds. The possibility of a sale, which has been previously suggested by banking analysts, is part of Citicorp's plans announced earlier this year to raise capital by selling some operations, the banking company said.

LEAD: The Compaq Computer Corporation said it had made a small equity investment in Nexgen Microsystems, a company in San Jose, Calif., that is working on a clone of the Intel Corporation's 80386 microprocessor. This is the microprocessor at the heart of most Compaq computers, and it is available only from Intel.

Sharp's Color Fax

LEAD: The Sharp Corporation of Japan said it had developed a desktop facsimile machine that can transmit photograph-like full-color images. The company said the fax machine was the first made for general office use that could transmit full-color pictures. The machine can also send and receive regular black and white faxes.

LEAD: The International Business Machines Corporation said that it would raise prices 3 percent for many of its computers, 4 to 5 percent for selected printers and 10 percent for services and many of its software products. The company also said it was reducing the price of memory for its most powerful 3090 mainframe computer by up to 20 percent.
