They discussed the troubles of the Middle East peace talks. President Clinton will hold a hastily scheduled meeting with the Israeli leader in Washington today; he is expected to push Mr. Netanyahu to make good on his promises to improve the lives of Palestinians. A1 China Cracks Down on Pirates China's copyright police have begun pursuing and arresting pirates of compact disks, after years of ignoring demands for action from the United States and elsewhere. Ellen Shaw Bakalian, the daughter of Grace and Karekin Bakalian of Little Falls, N.J., was married yesterday to Jeffrey Randall Smith, a son of Madeline and Arthur Smith of Tamarac, Fla. Jeri Huempfner-Gatz, the interim director of religious education at the Unitarian Church of Montclair, performed the nondenominational ceremony at the Woman's Club of Upper Montclair, N.J. The bride, 37, is keeping her name. She is a coordinating producer for ABC News Productions, a division of the network in New York. She graduated from Gettysburg College and received a master's degree in English literature from New York University, where she is a doctoral candidate in 14th-century English literature.

Mary Celeste Panepinto, a television marketing executive in New York, was married yesterday to Robert Lockwood Marsh 3d, a financial markets analyst in Greenwich, Conn. The Rev. John Piderit, the president of Loyola University in Chicago, performed the ceremony at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church in Dana Point, Calif. Mrs. Marsh, 33, who is known as Celeste, is the vice president of international marketing and development at ABC News. She graduated from Marquette University. She is a daughter of Dorothy and Dr. Marion S. Panepinto of Springfield, Ill. Dr. Panepinto is a cardiologist at the Springfield Clinic.

The Rev. Larry L. Stamper performed the ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. Mrs. Coes, 31, is the public-affairs coordinator at the Maine H.M.O. Council in Augusta. Until 1995, she was an aide to Gov. Pete Wilson of California, when she became the California deputy director of consumer affairs. She graduated cum laude from Wheaton College. Her father is the chairman of Ryan Herco in Los Angeles, a company that distributes industrial plastics.
