Francesco De Gregori (* 4. April 1951 in Rom) ist ein italienischer Cantautore (Liederdichter).

Bei seinen Anfängen noch wenig beachtet, konnte De Gregori sich spätestens seit seiner Zusammenarbeit mit Fabrizio De André 1974 einen Namen in der römischen Liederdichterszene machen und auch einen beachtlichen Publikumserfolg erzielen. Seit seinem Debüt 1972 erreichte er neunmal die Spitze der italienischen Albumcharts. Besonders erfolgreich war seine mehrmalige Zusammenarbeit mit Lucio Dalla. Wegen seines introvertierten Umgangs mit der Presse erhielt der Cantautore den Spitznamen Il principe („Der Prinz“, „Der Fürst“). In seinen Liedern verbindet De Gregori einen diffusen Hermetismus in den Texten mit leicht zugänglichen Melodien. Als seine musikalischen Vorbilder gelten neben Fabrizio De André Leonard Cohen und vor allem Bob Dylan. De Gregori wurde für sein Werk vielfach ausgezeichnet, etwa mit sechs Targhe Tenco.
